About Civil Engineering

The significance of construction projects in relation to sustainable development has been on a constant rise, creating a high demand for civil engineering experts. The Faculty of Engineering offers a four year degree program in Civil Engineering and seeks to impart within the students the knowledge and competencies related to construction and building structures. The department of Civil Engineering is equipped with a league of expert faculties and resource persons from renowned IITs and NITs, who endeavour to provide the students with a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of Engineering. The program is AICTE approved thus guaranteeing students of the most enriching quality learning experience. As a way of developing the practical skills of the students, the department is also equipped with laboratories and research centres which focus on various domains of Civil Engineering such as Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engineering and Concrete Technology. Beyond the scope of the academics, the department also seeks to develop the career competencies of the students, making them industry ready, during the course of the academics.

Why Study Civil Engineering

For this reason civil engineers maintain a position of great significance and the civil engineering field provides an endless pool of career opportunities for the student graduates of Civil Engineering. The program develops engineers who have the ability to navigate the various streams in civil engineering, which at the same time develops their industrial skills in areas such as:

Project Manager

An ability to understand the fundamental elements of mechanics and electronics, and to practically put them into application.

Assistant Project Manager

An ability to solve engineering problems through a mastery of fundamental engineering subjects such as mathematics, engineering graphics, engineering physics amongst others.

Site Engineer

An ability to navigate the industrial dimensions of civil engineering with the relevant skill sets to pursue lucrative career prospects.

Civil Engineer
