True ambition is not defined by the expectations of stereotypes that have been set by the world but it is driven by one’s personal talents, passion, and Interests. This is displayed by the story of PU’s Neel Chamapaneri who turned what was a class project into a nominated short film. Neel who is a student of Bachelor of Science in Film and tv production has been recognized at the film festival for his short film known as Devi. The short film simply talks about the desires that every individual has and raises awareness related to gender stereotypes in society. The film was nominated under the category of the best LGBTQ+ in the Clapperboard Golden Festival from Sao Paolo, Brazil.
The international festival aims to assess the creative spirit, cultural strength, and diversity in the production of short films made by directors from around the world. The panel of judges seeks to award films that stand out for their artistic qualities. PU’s faculty of Design has been set in a structure that provides its students with the highest form of skill development by exposing them to world-class infrastructure and tools. The faculty consists of highly skilled experts from well-reputed institutions in India who provide adequate nurturing to the students. In addition, the students are provided with exposure to industry experts who possess a wealth of knowledge to impart their experience to the students. Furthermore, Devi was also selected for the Best Micro Short film at Dr. Dhanya Menon Awards. This excellence will go a long way in impacting many lives to contribute toward upholding the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
