Chirag Yadav, volleyball champion and an arts student of PU, is all set to represent India at the Asian Championship that is to take place in Japan. The 2021 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship will be the 21st edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, a biennial worldwide volleyball competition by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in collaboration with the Japan Volleyball Affiliation (JVA). The competition will be held in Chiba and Funabashi, Japan in September 2021. Through his commitment and dedication towards sports, Chirag has managed to secure a spot amongst the top in the game.
Chirag is a 2nd-year student of Parul University’s Faculty of Arts, Journalism, and Mass Communication. Originally from Haryana, he is amongst the University’s students to be awarded the sports scholarship under its scholarship scheme. Throughout his sporting career, Chirag has displayed a record of excellence placing him at the top of the game and bagging numerous medals and titles in numerous contests. He has made some notable achievements which include winning a Gold medal at the Khelo India youth games in Guwahati Assam, A Silver medal at the U-23 Asian Championship, in Myanmar in the year 2019, he participated in the Youth National Championship held in Rajasthan and he went on to win the Bronze medal at the U - 19 National championship, Karnataka. In addition to this he also took part in the Junior National Championships held in West Bengal and went on to participate in the Khelo India National Championships held in Pune, Maharashtra, and he won the bronze medal in his participation at the U -19 National Championship, held in Himachal (2017).
PU has been pursuing an extensive culture for promoting the essence of sport amongst the youth of the nation by appreciating and recognising their skill sets and further facilitating platforms to spotlight and nurture their talent. Various forms of financial aid schemes in the form of sports scholarships, defence scholarships, and cultural scholarships have also been put in place by the University as a way of creating opportunities of such a magnitude to deserving students. In his recent visit to the University’s campus to inaugurate the 12 newly established sporting facilities, the State Minister of Sports, Honourable Shri Ishwarsinh Patel commended the University for its efforts in creating such platforms where students get to explore their sporting talents and skills.
Through such sports scholarships, PU has allowed students and the youth to showcase their expertise while at the same time enhancing their knowledge in the numerous fields of academics. This has been further helping the youth of the nation to come up and inspire other youth to showcase and explore their sporting talents and expertise. Chirag not only stands as the pride of the University, but his pursuit for his passion has also made him the pride of India and soon, of Asia. “As a University we are truly proud of the achievement which Chirag Yadav has made, I am confident that he will go on to make the nation proud in this new sporting endeavour”, said the University’s Vice President, Dr. Parul Patel.
